Overall Rating this Cuisinart has an overall rating of 4 out of 5 stars

Overall Review 74% of the food processor reviews for this multi-bowl Cuisinart are very favorable and accompanied by a 4 or 5 star rating. This food processor actually comes with three different bowl sizes (14 cup, 11 cup and 4 1/2 cup,) to make sure you always have the right size for the job at hand. It also comes with the basic slicing, shredding and kneading accessories that you will want to get started. It is a powerful and solid machine. Most users say this food processor handles everything without straining, even when kneading large amounts of dough. It is well suited for bread making not only because of its power, but also because it has a dough blade and dough setting. Most reviewers report this is a kitchen workhorse designed to help you make light work of preparing meals from scratch.

People love the versatility that comes with three different sizes of work bowls. The wide mouth feed tube means you won't have to pre-cut food as often. The blade locks into place, making it easier to empty the bowl while the blade is still in place.

The majority of negative reviews stem from issues that are also reported among the positive reviews. Cuisinart tried to make this model leak-proof in an attempt to placate people who use their food processors in place of a blender. Most processors are not designed to handle being filled above the half-way point with liquids. Cuisinart wanted to change that so they re-designed the lid so that liquids could not escape. Doing this caused another problem; the lid has places where food can get trapped and it becomes difficult to clean this model. Some people use a flattened straw to get into the crevices, others use steak knives, some use a high-powered burst of water. The worst part about it? Reviewers report that it still leaks. They say that you can only process between 4 and 6 cups of liquid in the largest bowl before leakage becomes a problem. This isn't a problem for many users that turn to their blenders for liquid processing.

The second most repeated complaint is regarding the shredding and slicing discs. While most agree this machine has more than enough power to shred and slice, there are some design issues. First, there are finger-hold holes in the discs that are meant to make it easier to grab the discs. Users report food falling through these holes without being processed. The discs sit about a 1/2 inch below the lid, causing food to remain above the disc and unprocessed. These two issues result in food left over that must either be cut by hand or thrown away. Many users are willing to overlook the issues with cleaning and shredding/slicing due to the myriad of desirable features on this model.

The third problem is one only experienced by a small number of reviewers, yet it is an important consideration. Some people passed on the higher rated Breville Sous Chef and went with the Cuisinart FP-14DC because the Breville has a one year warranty while the Cuisinart has a 3 year. Then they experienced issues ranging from a machine that would no longer shut off, to broken parts, while still within the 3 year time frame. Once they contacted Cuisinart they were told they must pay to ship the broken food processor to Cuisinart and include an extra $10 towards return shipping. This is a heavy machine with a shipping weight of 29 pounds, and shipping can be costly. They were also told it would take between 4 and 6 weeks to have the processor fixed before it would be returned. READ 473 REVIEWS HERE

Overall Rating4.5 out of 5 stars

Overall Review –  84% of the reviews of this food processor were accompanied by a 4 or 5 star rating. Out of the remaining reviews 9% were only rated 1 star, which is an unusually high percentage for a higher end food processor. The most common complaints boil down to two issues: over zealous safety features and customer service problems.

The bowls of all modern food processors have safety latches which must be engaged for the machine to work. Many reviewers feel that the safety latch on this model is difficult to click into place. This leads to the use of excess force and in turn often results in cracks within the bowl or latch. The bowl must then be replaced before the unit can be used. There is another cumbersome safety feature mentioned often in the reviews; the entire feed tube assembly must be engaged for the food processor to run. This means anything longer than the feed tube must be cut into shorter pieces before processing.

Many customer service issues surface time and time again in the reviews of any Cuisinart food processor. This is quite unfortunate since Cuisinart  food processors are considered by many to be the best in the industry. There are many reviews that paint a picture of a company unwilling or unable to help when something goes wrong. If you decide to buy a Cuisinart the best way around this problem is to buy from a store you can trust with a good return policy. This way you can hopefully avoid dealing with Cuisinart customer service in the event a problem does arise.

Overall this food processor did get very good reviews. It is well powered, quiet and efficient. It makes everyday kitchen tasks easier and does everything you expect a food processor to do. It comes with all of the accessories you need to get started and you have the option to buy more accessories in the future. There is one useful feature absent: a mini bowl for small tasks. Keep in mind that this is one accessory that can't be added in the future. There are 207 reviews available for this food processor. See All 207 Reviews
