Overall Review Only 61% of the reviews for this KitchenAid food processor were very positive and accompanied by a 4 or 5 star rating.

There are a lot of reviews from people who could not get their machines to turn on from the start, often exchanging them for new machines with the same result. In fact, all of the one star ratings are from people who could never get the unit to turn on. There is a safety feature on this model that prevents the motor from engaging if the lid is not locked into the proper position. The problem is, the lid can be locked into another position, giving the impression that everything is ready to go. But if it is not in the position shown in the manual, the unit will not turn on. Many people thought their food processors were defective until they figured this out. One reviewer actually received her KitchenAid for free from someone who said it never worked and was unable to return it. She researched common problems with the model and got it working right away by properly positioning the lid. Some of the one star reviews commented later that the machine did work once the lid was on properly, but they did not adjust the rating.

Most users love the powerful yet quiet motor. This has an induction motor, so don't be fooled by the low wattage. Induction motors are more powerful, durable and efficient than standard motors; induction motors are also more expensive.

People love the versatility offered by the adjustable slicing discs. You won't have to buy a bunch of discs to get the thickness you desire. Reviewers marvel at the consistent results and super-sharp blades. This model is available in white, red, silver or black. Read all 57 customer reviews

Overall Rating3.5 out of 5 stars

Overall Review Only 40% of the reviews for this KitchenAid food processor were very positive and accompanied by a 4 or 5 star rating. almost all of the negative reviews center around the food processor bowl. There are two issues with it. First, many reviewers had the bowls actually break and needed a replacement bowl. The plus side to this is that it gives you a glimpse into KitchenAid's customer service record, which is excellent. KitchenAid sent replacement bowls, free of charge, to those whose bowls had broken. But that does not excuse the bowls for being cheap and prone to breakage. The second issue with the food processor bowls lies within the design, which allows for food and liquids to get trapped within the handle. You can not get anything out once it goes in, and this can become a food safety issue. This may be happening with other brands, but KitchenAid brings attention to the issue with its see-through handle. But keep in mind, when comparing it to other food processor brands, that just because you can't see into the handle, it doesn't mean that stuff isn't getting trapped there.

The positive reviews rave about this very powerful yet quiet food processor. It is very well-powered and the blades and discs are super sharp and do a great job.

A few unfavorable reviews referred to this food processor’s inability to process large amounts of food at once. This will be in issue in any compact food processor, the only way around it is to buy a full size food processor. There were also a few complaints about how heavy this food processor is. This should actually be viewed as a pro, not a con. A well-powered food processor will always be heavy. A quality motor weighs more.

There is one problem mentioned in the reviews of this model of which you certainly ought to be made aware; KitchenAid does not make several of their attachments in the 7 cup size. The dough blade and a few of the slicing and shredding discs are only available for the the full sized models. See 131 KitchenAid Food Processor Reviews

Overall Ratingthis food processor has an overall rating of 3.5 out of 5 stars

Overall ReviewOnly 47% of the reviews for this KitchenAid food processor are very positive and accompanied by a 4 or 5 star rating. That is somewhat surprising since KitchenAid has addressed the most common complaints found on previous food processor models and added a few new features.

First, the biggest innovation on this KitchenAid food processor is the adjustable slicing disc. Not only is it adjustable to provide you with the best possible thickness for all situations, but it is easily adjusted from the front of the machine. Some reviewers felt that there was not enough of a discernable difference between thicknesses to justify the extra cost, while others were impressed by this feature. It comes down to your level of skill and expectations in the kitchen. The more advanced your cooking skills are, the more uses you will find for varying thicknesses. A beginning cook will likely not appreciate this feature and may want to save their money.

The biggest complaint you will find on past KitchenAid food processor models is leakage, and KitchenAid has done much to address this issue when creating their new 13 cup model. They made three changes to stop leakage. First, past models had a second, smaller bowl. To accommodate the mini bowl, the center shaft was not very tall. Any liquid above the shaft would leak through the center. KitchenAid eliminated the second bowl, and thus eliminated the problem. Past models had a lid that sat on top of the food processor bowl with the outer edge of the lid wrapped around the outside of the bowl. The lid on this 13 cup model actually rests on the inside rim of the food processor bowl making it more difficult for liquids to escape. The third change involves the addition of a heavy-duty gasket that lines the rim of the lid. The reviews show that these three changes have eliminated any leakage.

Another pro mentioned within the reviews: the precision blades do a fantastic job of slicing even soft fruits and vegetables, such as tomatoes. This is an area where most food processors fail.

The author of one of the negative reviews felt that all the plastic used on this food processor would make it prone to breakage. That reviewer didn't wait for problems and simply returned the KitchenAid before using. Another reviewer complained about the big size of this unit, while most reviewers enjoyed the large size and the versatility that comes with a big unit. This is a 13 cup food processor; it is larger than most models available today.

Among the negative reviews you will find one written by someone who is obviously unfamiliar with proper food processor usage. She was attempting to shred cheese and didn't turn the food processor on first until her husband read the manual. This led to a safety feature kicking in and the machine shutting off. Then she turned the machine on before dropping the cheese into the feed shute but was disappointed when she couldn't get the cheese to shred properly even though he says she babied the machine and made a special effort not to exert too much pressure on the block of cheese. Anyone who is familiar with proper food processor usage knows that babying the machine and not exerting pressure is precisely why she had trouble shredding her cheese. The pusher on a food processor is there to push food through. You will need to exert pressure on any food item in order to get it to properly shred or slice. This is a new model of food processor. Because of that, there are only 29 reviews available. This makes it especially important to discount any reviews due to user error, as each individual review counts for 4% of the total grade.

One warning: unlike past KitchenAid food processor models that had a handle that locked front and center, the handle on this unit can only lock on the right side. This can make it awkward for anyone that is left-handed.

KitchenAid Chef Series Food Chopper

Bowl Size Mini– 3 Cup

Dimensions 11.2 x 8 x 6.2 inches

Accessories and extras –none

Warranty 1 year hassle free replacement

Overall Rating 4 out of 5 stars

Overall Review  72% of the reviews of this food processor are very positive and are accompanied by a 4 or 5 star rating. Those who use this model for small projects such as chopping herbs or garlic tend to give this food processor great reviews. Those who tried to use it for pureeing soup, chopping large amounts of food or making bread dough weren't nearly as generous in their reviews. That last one isn't a joke; there was one reviewer who actually expressed disappointment in this food processor's inability to make bread dough. That's a clear case of expecting something out of the wrong type of product. It's important to remember that any food processor with a 4 cup or smaller bowl is going to be very limited in it's use. Check out our Food Processor Buying Guide for more information on food processors sizes.

There were also several cases of this machine breaking and needing to be completely replaced. The only up side to that is it gives you a glimpse into KitchenAid's customer service record, which is quite good.

Many of the reviews mentioned the noise level of this food processor. The strange thing is, there are as many people commenting on how quiet it is as there are those who say it is unacceptably loud. This could either be a case of differing expectations or faulty motors.

This food processor does not come with any slicing or shredding disks, and they are not available to purchase separately. Overall, this appears to be a great food chopper that works well when used as intended. See All 317 Food Chopper Reviews
